Boxleitner toured the Pacific Northwest in the first week of January, 2000. To say this was a well-documented handful of shows would be an understatement, and we've culled through about 200 photos to present these to you. Sort of makes you wonder what the other ones looked like, doesn't it? (The poor resolution of the scans is ian's fault, while the great photos are Ceci's and Owen's.)

The Road to Portland:

Spirits were high and Gabe was wacky as we lashed Pinky the Bear to the back of George's trusty van and headed north.

fire and sock puppets.
ceci washed windows while the bear contemplated life.
vistas and sock madness.

On the way we stopped at a wonderfully rustic truckstop, complete with pamphlets inexorably linking the First Amendment and the Bible. The Bear drove a tractor, and someone noticed that the truckstop had a photo of Rye Coalition on the wall. There was a scary mannequin in the bathroom.

gabe and george steer the bear in the right direction.
unnervingly mom-like mannequin.

By the time we got to Portland, we'd almost forgotten that we were supposed to play a show. Todd put us up at his place, put on a show with JYPU, Tennis, CFTPA, and us. (Thanks, Todd!) This was our second show as a four-piece.

Jim Yoshii Pile Up, Tennis, and a surprise makeover for George.

We hurried downtown to a restuarant/tiki bar to play another show in conjunction with Ben's going-away party. The Bear, who had dried out, began to take some abuse after his short and productive stint on drums. We were mercifully brief and strangely aggressive, and drunken onlookers were conf/am-used.

(these polaroids are courtesy of Owen, mastermind of the wonderful Casiotone For The Painfully Alone. I'll re-scan them for better res very soon...sorry!)
looks like ian dropped his pick.
gabe and Cyclops rant while the bear lays facedown.
ursine beat of the traps.
ceci with the bear in a well-deserved headlock.
Amused bystanders.
tennis and sleepy JYPUers.

I'm skipping over the rest of Portland and Seattle to jump to the Olympia show, but the rest of the photos'll be up before 1/25.

The first Olympia show at Chambers street was amazing - we played with the Fugue, Casiotone, JimYoshii, WhiteManBlackManDeadMan, and NovaScotia. We'd decided before the show to destroy the Bear (bear = tour, and the tour was over), but didn't expect the cleanup ahead of us. Or our lost car keys. Or how nice Kathi, Dave, and Nathan were, or what the consequences of two cups of coffee and a RibEye omelette at 3am were.

JYPU, the merch table, and pre-bear plans.
ceci screams, blurry photo, gi gabe mugs.
the bear must go!
owen, bear-remanants, and the Seamus-enabled bear-resurrection.
at first, only the living room was covered in styrofoam stuffing.
no one seemed to mind, and gabe attracted "groupies" with his post-show cherry coke.

More to come....(our second night in Oly we played with Nathan's inimitable Boypussy USA and other great bands...)(1/18)
